The most efficient joker in the league recorded 564 Bundesliga minutes last season (33 goals after 120 substitutions). In the duels with new signing Michael Gregoritsch and Lucas Höler, Petersen has to prove himself if he wants to have surpassed this number next summer. “I’m very motivated and want to get more minutes than last year. I want to give the team even more input and not just be good for joker goals,” the attacker said in the “picture‘ newspaper quoted.

In view of the increased quality in the squad of the Europa League participants, Petersen is aware that he has to “work hard for regular assignments. (…) The training intensity has definitely increased. And of course: If quality is added, it can of course cost you a few minutes yourself.” With Gregoritsch, Ritsu Doan, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Matthias Ginter, the SC has signed four newcomers to date and a total plus of 7.3 million euros in the current season Transfer summer generated.
