Nils Eekhoff has not started in the third stage of Paris-Nice. The cyclist from Rijsenhout fell in the French stage race yesterday and suffered a concussion.
In the second stage from Auffargis to Orléans, the Team DSM rider crashed. The crash happened when the peloton broke into echelons due to the wind. In addition to a concussion, Eekhoff also had to be stitched to a wound on his cheek.
“X-rays and a CT scan showed no fracture or other serious injuries,” Team DSM said on its website. It is still unclear how long the 24-year-old Eekhoff will be out of circulation.
