Borussia Dortmund has found a new trainer. Niko Kovač will soon be sitting on the bench.
His name has already simmered the last few days around BVB, now the decision has finally been made: Niko Kovač is becoming the new coach at Borussia Dortmund. This first reported the “picture”, both the SID and Sky now confirmed the report.
So Nico Kovač follows Nuri Şahin, who was released last week. The former coach of FC Bayern is to be presented in the coming days and will sit out of the bank for the first time in the game against VfB Stuttgart in the coming week. Interim coach Mike Tullberg will sit on the bench again at the weekend against Heidenheim.
According to the report, Kovač should receive a contract by summer 2026. At first it was speculated whether there was only one contract for the rest of the season. Dortmund’s sports director Sebastian Kehl said before the Champions League game against Donetsk near DAZN that the BVB was “on the home stretch” during discussions with a new trainer. Now the decision is there – per Kovač.
