It could just be that the Netherlands will have a female prime minister for the first time: Dilan Yesilgöz seems to be the leader of the VVD and Caroline van der Plas, the major opponent BBB, also has a woman at the helm. Is there a female conflict coming up?

Dilan’s TV miles

Dilan has had a successful political career, says Rob Goossens at the desk of RTL Boulevard. “She immediately took on the media portfolio when she started as a Member of Parliament and then you deal with public broadcasting, for example. If that is your portfolio, then you get a kind of subscription with Good Morning Netherlands.”

That helped Rob a lot. “She did that very cleverly. She was able to make a lot of kilometers there.”

Mediagenic

Every time she is on a talk show, something happens, according to Rob. “Unfortunately we cannot show the images, but when those protests were in Iran, she cut off a lock in Op1 and thus checkmated Sigrid Kaag, because he suddenly had to cut off a lock, but he did not want that. Then Dilan was suddenly more sympathetic.”

Actually, Dilan has built it all up very cleverly, says Rob. “She owes this place more to how well she does in the media than how well she does as a politician.”

What does Nikki say?

Then Nikkie Plessen gets the word from presenter Luuk Ikink. “Do you think it would be fun, Nikkie, a female prime minister for once? Whoever of all those women it will be.”

Nikkie: “Yes, that sometimes seems very good to me. I think so.”

Eddy Zoëy: “Do you have a preference?”

Nikkie about Dilan: “I think she comes across as very powerful and strong. Also how she communicates and how she speaks. How she squeezes herself out of everything. She also just looks powerful, that she can handle it too. I think that is also important.”
