Nikkie de Jager will undoubtedly scratch his head next time when RTL 4 offers her another show. Even RTL Boulevard is tearing down its first program The Only Real.
She is the new great talent of the Dutch media world: Nikkie de Jager. Unfortunately, it turned out last weekend that the first program that RTL 4 has given her, The Only Real, is a TV monstrosity. The viewing figures were already a bit on the low side, but the reactions were really devastating: people thought it was very bad.

Even at club house RTL Boulevard they could not avoid it yesterday. “’Is this a joke?’ “Are those masks from a horror movie?” The one-off RTL 4 program De Sole Echte evoked a lot of reactions on social media. (…) Those masks were not all equally successful,” said presenter Daan Nieber.
How did TV connoisseur Rob Goossens look at it? “With bent toes. I understood why this program was removed from the schedule in December. I think it was actually meant for Christmas Eve, it sat on the shelf for quite some time after that and it has now been broadcast.”
‘Really not good’
Rob thinks that RTL has dropped something here.” It was not a good program and to think that RTL still hoped it would be so nice that they could order an entire season after this one-off episode, but I don’t think that that is yet to happen.”
Daan: “So it’s not The Only Real, but it’s The Only One, because there are indeed no more.”

The Only Real revolves around celebrities who perform in a group of five. Each member wears a mask of that celebrity and the panel then has to guess which mask is the one and only true celebrity. The concept is already wafer thin, but the execution was dramatically bad. And that started with the non-appearing and also frightening masks.
The men of Media Inside are not impressed either. “This was a very scary program. It’s scary,” said presenter Gijs Groenteman. His guest Nadia Moussaid: “Yeah, kind of a horror movie.”
