The Formula 1 racing team Haas has separated from Nikita Masepin. The American team announced this on Saturday. The Russian will no longer be part of the racing team with “immediate effect”.

Haas team boss Günther Steiner left open the future of Masepin as a driver and the Russian mining company Uralkali as a sponsor last week. Haas has now separated from both of them. Nikita Masepin’s father Dmitry Masepin is the majority owner of Uralkali.

The background to this decision is Russia’s attack on Ukraine under Vladimir Putin’s leadership. The Sochi Grand Prix was therefore also removed from the racing calendar.

According to a report by Sky, the American-Brazilian reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi will take over the Masepin cockpit and will already be behind the wheel in the upcoming test drives from March 10th to 12th in Bahrain.
