The US sportswear giant Nike has accused the Canadian sporting goods manufacturer Lululemon of violating patent law when using textiles and other structural elements of the company’s shoes.

Nike claims that Lululemon’s Blissfeel, Chargfeel and Strongfeel sneakers infringe copyright and patents on Nike sneakers’ Flyknit technology. The lawsuit, which seeks undisclosed damages and cease and desist violations, has been filed in the New York District Court.

“Nike’s allegations are unfounded and we look forward to the judicial resolution of our case,” a Lululemon spokesman said in a statement. Last year, Lululemon introduced shoes that established themselves in the market with great success. According to the company, demand far exceeded supply at the time.

A year ago, Nike filed a lawsuit against the Canadian company alleging patent infringement regarding the fitness technology ‘Mirror Fitness’ and other apps. At the time, Nike alleged that Lululemon infringed on six of the company’s patent claims on certain “digital sports technologies.”
