Nikas Süle back in training before Gladbach game

With numerous temporary helpers from the youth department, “Corona-Meister” FC Bayern Munich contested the final training for the start of the second half of the season.

In the last unit before the opening game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday (8:30 p.m.), seven other players from the second team and the Bayern youth took part in addition to the last ailing Niklas Süle.

The Munich team wanted to cancel the game because of their nine corona cases in the professional team. Now, however, despite the great personnel worries of coach Julian Nagelsmann, there are many indications that the encounter will take place.

However, the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder pleaded for a cancellation. “I think it would be better if it would be postponed,” said the CSU politician on “Bild TV”. To play is “not competitively fair. We will see that it can be the same with other teams. And that is why it would be better if it were postponed”.

In addition to the corona patients around Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sane, Nagelsmann will also be missing the two Africa Cup participants Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Bouna Sarr and the injured Josip Stanisic. The ailing Leon Goretzka only trained individually on Thursday.

FC Bayern pulls up young players

To fill in the gaps, Bayern called captain Nico Feldhahn, Bright Arrey-Mbi, Jamie Lawrence, Lucas Copado and Taylor Booth from their regional league team to professional training on Thursday.

Then there were the two 16-year-olds Paul Wanner and Arjon Ibrahimovic, who are normally in the Munich U19 squad. Goalkeeper Johannes Schenk had already trained from this since Monday.
