Nightwish singer Floor Jansen is cancer-free after surgery

Nightwish singer Floor Jansen’s breast cancer surgery has apparently been successful. “Great news! I’m cancer free,” Jansen wrote on Twitter. “The surgery removed everything that was cancerous and it hasn’t spread.”

“I’m getting my energy back after the surgery and I’m very relieved that it was successful,” Jansen continued. From February she will start local radiotherapy to prevent the cancer from returning. Jansen made her breast cancer diagnosis public in October.

Despite the diagnosis, Nightwish didn’t want to cancel the upcoming European tour. And indeed, Jansen was on stage at the opening concert on Sunday, November 20th in Antwerp, Belgium, proving impressively that this was not false optimism.

“It has only been 3 weeks since I returned from our Latin America tour and had to have surgery to remove my breast cancer,” Jansen wrote on Twitter afterwards. “And last night I was back on stage, in front of you, and with my brothers. What an incredible feeling!”

All other dates of the European tour should also take place. Nightwish will be coming to Germany on November 27th. They play a total of ten concerts, including in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg.
