“Two and a half months ago we looked at a very large lawn here,” says Arnold Postma, general manager of Family Park Nienoord in Leek, while walking past the new 1400 square meter building. “We are now constantly revealing the interpretation of the play hall.”
“Last Thursday we laid the concrete floor and, according to an old American use, we put horseshoes in it, because that brings happiness.”
And happiness, they can use that at Nienoord. Because the amusement park has had a tough year. On May 6, a fire broke out at the play paradise. The smoke could be seen from far away and the building was lost. A minor boy was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the fire.
The consequences were great for the park. “You saw that the number of visitors went back after the fire,” says Postma. “Unfortunately, quite a few school trips have been canceled.”
A number of the new devices have already been revealed. For example, there must be a ‘huge’ monkey cage. “And there will be a play area for the little ones, so from 0 to 2 years. And our mascot Nieno gets its own place, its own theater. And if you want to know what else is coming, you have to keep following our social channels,” says Postma.
In the meantime, there is a lot of hidden in Leek. If everything goes according to plan, the new playing hall will be ready at the beginning of August.
