In 2015, Brys and Van Zandweghe became a couple in the light double. A year later, a first bronze medal followed the World Cup in Varese, Italy. Despite a qualification, they missed the Rio 2016 Games because of a provision of rules that allowed Belgium to delegate only a boat. The choice fell on skiffeur Hannes Obreno.
Despite the disappointment for the missed Games, Brys and Van Zandweghe continue. In 2018, it resulted in three world cup medals (2x silver, 1x bronze) and a bronze World Cup slice. They added EK bronze twice in 2019 and 2020.
