Nicole Anyomi shines with goals and templates in the Bundesliga. In the national team, however, she seems to be outside.
Despite outstanding performance at Eintracht Frankfurt, Nicole Anyomi is currently not part of the German national team. The offensive player has 14 goals and nine templates in the current season – as many direct goal participations as no other player in the Bundesliga. Nevertheless, there has been no return to the national team. The last nomination took place in October last year. Since then, contact with national coach Christian Wück has apparently reduced.
“There was no concrete and direct exchange recently. There is still a course in May, I hope to be there,” said the 25-year-old in an interview with the news portal “Watson” (Read more about this here).
Despite the lack of consideration, she still believes in her European Championship chance: “I continue to try to call up my performance at Eintracht and to develop here. Sometimes it takes patience. I see that as a challenge.”
The competition in the storm center of the DFB team is great. Bavaria attacker Lea Schüller alone is considered to be set. Anyomi refers to her flexibility to improve her chances: “I can also play on the outer lane. In the end, it’s about knowing and appreciating me as a type of player.”
Since winning the European Vice Championship 2022, she has been on 27 international operations, in which two goals have been scored so far. Until the German start on July 4 in St. Gallen against Poland, only two international matches are on the program for the team. On May 30, the team in Wolfsburg will meet Austria on June 3 in Vienna.
