Nico Hülkenberg has long been one of the veterans in the Formula 1 Starterfeld, and he completes his 231st Grand Prix in Bahrain. The current clean and soon-to-be Audi pilot does not think of resignation.
Fernando Alonso is 43 years old, Lewis Hamilton is 40 years old – so why should the 37 -year -old Nico Hülkenberg think of resignation? And that actually seems to be the approach of the clean pilot. “I can definitely drive up to 40,” he told the “German Press Agency”.
“So I don’t see any problems for the next few years. It is difficult to assess what comes afterwards,” said the Emmericher before the upcoming Bahrain-GP.
Formula 1: Hülkenberg has “a few more races in the tank”
Hülkenberg is contractually bound to Audi in the long term. The German carmaker will get into Formula 1 for the coming season and takes over the current clean team.
However, as so many other factory operations have shown in the past, it will probably also take a while at Audi for success – if it is possible at all. Hülkenberg is therefore important to stay on board as long as possible. He “has a few more races in the tank,” he explains.
At Audi, preparations for the Formula 1 entry into the 2026 season are in full swing. The new engine is being built in Neuburg an der Donau. Hülkenberg recently paid a visit to the factory and collected positive impressions.
“You can feel a very good and hungry atmosphere there. People want Formula 1, on this project, they are motivated and happy,” said the only German Formula 1 start.
Accordingly, Hülkenberg currently feels comfortable with his contractual situation: “It is difficult to rewrite, in the end it goes out at a feeling. You have a good feeling or you don’t have it. You have to feel good and happy here, I feel like this here.”
