Nico Hülkenberg had to bury the hope of catching up on Sunday at the Hungarian Grand Prix of Formula 1 at an early stage. With a view of his curious early start, the clean pilot himself puzzles over the background.
“No idea, I have to look at it. In my view, I didn’t start a false start,” said the 37-year-old at the “Sky” microphone about his mishap.
At the start, the car of the Rhinelander moved in the start box before the lights of the traffic lights out. The race management initiated an investigation and ultimately imposed a five -second penalty.
Hülkenberg could only explain the incident with a habit of the gear. “I was a little late with inserting the first course, the car makes a little jump. I don’t know if that triggered it. That is the only thing the explanation can be,” he explained.
The trouble about the scene is limited, Hülkenberg noted: “It was not a change in the race, it fits the weekend.”
Summer break in Formula 1: Hülkenberg is annoyed
In Budapest, the veteran had previously had to prove a lot of frustration tolerance. Once again he did not get beyond Q1 on Saturday, while team -mate Gabriel Bortoleto wore his clean to seventh.
The only full-time driver has not yet reached the last qualifying section this year.
The working day in Hungary had been “long, tough and tedious” after the accident, Hülkenberg, who ended the race in 13th place.
It doesn’t suit him that the summer break is now coming up. “We only had a two -week break recently. For me it can go on, especially after such a weekend it is always good if you can jump into the car directly,” he emphasized.
Nevertheless, it is now important to use the free time. He would attack again in Zandvoort, promised Hülkenberg.
