The rapper is unimpressed by criticism and so the adulation continues to the next level.
If you hadn’t checked it yet: Nicki Minaj has now made her support for President Donald Trump very clear at an event organized by the US Treasury Department in Washington.
At the summit to introduce “Trump Accounts” for newborns on January 28, the 43-year-old rapper described herself as “the president’s number one fan.”
No turning back, just motivation and God support
Born Onika Maraj, she made it clear that criticism and negative reactions would not influence her point of view. “The hostility or what people have to say doesn’t concern me at all. They actually motivate me to support him even more,” the musician explained to the assembled audience.
In her speech, Nicki Minaj spoke out against what she described as bullying and smear campaigns against the president. “We’re not going to let them get away with this. It’s not going to work,” she said, emphasizing that Trump has “a lot of support” and “God is protecting him.”
Let’s take a quick look back: The artist declared in 2020 that she didn’t want to “jump on the Donald Trump bandwagon”. In recent years, however, she has made a significant turnaround and developed into a prominent supporter of the president. She made a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s annual conference last month.
On the way holding hands
At the event on January 28, Trump paid tribute to the rapper, calling her the “greatest and most successful female rapper in history.” He also expressed gratitude for a donation of “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to the Trump accounts.
The president mentioned that Minaj, like himself, is from Queens, New York (ahem), and acknowledged that she has faced “occasional backlash” for her support since her community is “not necessarily a Trump fan.” The two were also seen holding hands at the event, with Trump jokingly referencing Nicki Minaj’s extremely long, painted fingernails.
