The performance of Nick & Simon in the talk show of Eva Jinek has caused quite a stir. They were extensively questioned about their impending breakup and the body language of both men revealed everything: there is much more going on than communicating to the outside world. The looks of Nick Schilder (left in the photo) were especially deadly.

big facade

Nick & Simon have given an interview for the first time since that much-discussed talk show performance. Yesterday they had a short interview in RTL Boulevard. There was not much exciting in that; Nick joked that he has his eyebrows plucked to get a friendlier look and Simon shouted that they really don’t have a fight.

It is striking that Nick & Simon really looked at each other continuously and also smiled endearingly at each other. Reporter Aran Bade was the one who interviewed the gentlemen and states that it is one big facade.

tense conversation

The interview with Nick & Simon was not arranged. “No, it was not planned. They were at the pop-up store of The Streamers and suddenly they arrived separately from each other. Then we said, “Let’s have a word.” They eventually did. It was a business-like yet tense conversation.”

They play their act very well, says Aran. “As soon as you put them side by side, you see that they are again the Nick & Simon that we have known for years. Professional in giving answers, also very authentic, but behind that you really see that things are not going well in a friendly way and that they just don’t go through the same door anymore.”

naivety

Luuk Ikink thinks the gentlemen actually seem credible this time. “Do you still have that? Naivety is my middle name, but when I see them, I think: I just believe them.”

Colleague Bridget Maasland: “I believe them too.”

Aran: “Yes, the message is well packaged. They’re just really good at it and they just master it, just like they can sing on stage. They are just very professional in media appearances. It may well be that you no longer continue to be friendly. I think they really see that tour until the end of April as the celebration of this wedding.”
