Nick & Simon close Strandgast as a TV flop: ‘Throw Simon out!’

It’s over for Nick & Simon: while they are in the middle of their series of farewell concerts, their TV show Strandgasten came to an end yesterday. And unfortunately the viewing figures are again disappointing.

The eight-part series Strandgasten is over. The program in which Nick & Simon make music with other celebrities on the beach ended yesterday with 251 thousand viewers (4.5 percent market share) on NPO 3. That was not nearly enough for a place in the daily top 25 of most viewed TV programs.

No hits

On average, 278 thousand people watched the Nick & Simon show. “And that makes it reasonable,” says RTL Boulevard reporter Joost Maiburg. “Especially postponed, it improved slightly, but it was not a real hit.”

Viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp speaks of a ‘moderate score’. “But including delayed viewing, this program was just above the average of NPO 3 every week.”

“Simon out!”

Will this program come back? “Wow, I don’t think so. Perhaps a combination between Nick and Kees is an idea.
Nick turned out to be a good interviewer and Kees was the pacesetter. I thought Simon mainly had a supporting role. Let’s take another look at The Beatles series by the trio. M curious.”

The big failure of the evening was Net5, where Erik van der Hoff’s TV comeback as presenter of De Grote Muziekquiz managed to entertain only 143 thousand viewers (2.5 percent). Immediately afterwards, at half past ten, the reality series Goud Zuid attracted only 36 thousand viewers (1 percent).

Angela goes wild

Goud Zuid, about a bunch of pompous ladies in Oud-Zuid, was supposed to be broadcast on SBS 6, but it turned out not to be good enough for the main stage. The show has therefore been dumped on Net5, where it scores downright lousy.

Angela de Jong is going in her today AD column completely loose on the so-called ‘rich’ ladies, but Yvonne Coldeweijer thinks that the TV columnist has not realized that things have been staged very much: “Angela has fallen for it. Here’s the problem with all these housewives-type programs: being rich doesn’t mean you’re rich.”
