NHL star Aleksandr Ovetshkin rushes to Russia

NHL star Alexander Ovetshkin, 36, returns from the NHL to his home in Russia. Ovetshkin also played the last games of the season over the weekend and will leave for home as early as Monday.

In the playoffs, Ovetshkin’s Washington Capitals lost to Florida and its season ended.

The family is waiting for Ovetshkin in Russia. He has seen his wife Nastjaa after the winter for a week, their children Sergeita and Iljaa not at all.

– It is difficult to be separated from the family, Ovetshkin says.

He praises the modern technology that has allowed the family to stay in touch, see and hear each other.

– I can’t even imagine what it would be like to live in the 1990s when you have to write letters, he sighs and makes the journalists around you laugh.

– Now my kids know who I am, he laughs.

She says now is the time to rest, be with the family and prepare for next year.

Ovetshkin also said of a shoulder injury he had suffered when he collided with him during the regular season.

He said the effort didn’t matter in the playoffs and it didn’t require surgery.

– If it hurts, can take a spike or magic pill, he laughed reporters.

Ovetshkin has also been a controversial figure in the war in Ukraine.

He has close ties with the Russian president Vladimir Putin and has not directly condemned the Russian offensive war.

He has previously commented that he hopes the war will end and said that people must live in harmony in this world.
