NH Hotel turns into budget hotel for status holders, students, emergency seekers and expats

Change in the Zoetermeerse hotel world! The closed NH Hotel has been taken over and is being converted into a budget hotel. There will be around 150 rooms, a new reception and breakfast room. The first guests are one hundred status holders for whom the municipality has not yet been able to find a home in Zoetermeer.

In Zoetermeer, according to the municipality, there are too few houses for people who are urgently looking for new living space. The Kafra Housing company has taken over the closed NH Hotel on Danny Kayelaan and has the hotel renovated. The guests come to their new room in Zoetermeer from Monday 3 February. This agreement was made by the municipality in consultation with the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA). The empire pays the bill of fifty hotel rooms for the first half year.

Unsuccessful

The municipality of Zoetermeer receives an annual task from the government. This shows how many status holders the municipality must find a home in a year. This goal was not achieved in 2024. This is because the municipality had too little time to get this done, it says in a press release. With the fifty hotel rooms in the former NH Hotel, the municipality will achieve this goal.

Maintenance and safety

The first fifty hotel rooms were intended for a total of one hundred status holders in the first half year. The other rooms are intended for expats, emergency seekers, students, labor migrants and more specific target groups. Employees of Kafra Housing are present 24 hours a day for daily management and maintenance, and as a point of contact for residents and local residents in Rokkeveen.
