Coordinator Maria Oktay, completely blind herself, describes it as an escape from a sedentary life: “We don’t like sitting behind the geraniums. These walks allow us to get outside, meet people and enjoy nature.” Volunteer Jack Verbeek guides her over narrow paths. “It’s just fun, we chat along the way and I tell what we see, so that Maria has a nice day too,” he explains.
Volunteers wanted
The group meets every last Sunday of the month. As a volunteer you do not need any special training; Above all, you must enjoy walking, be a bit social and love nature. In addition to walking, the association also offers tandem cycling and guided swimming. Would you like to join us for a walk or become a volunteer? Check cormeta.nl or respond here on the NH Helpt call.
