NFL: scenarios for Week 18

Week 18 is coming up in the NFL, there are still some decisions to be made. Five playoff spots are vacant and four division titles are up for grabs. You can find out which team can do this and how here.

In both conferences, the race for the top seed is already over before the last games of the regular season. The Baltimore Ravens secured the bye week and home advantage in the AFC, while the San Francisco 49ers achieved this in the NFC. However, some other decisions have been made.

NFL: Playoff scenarios for Week 18 in the AFC

Four teams are already secure in the playoffs in the AFC:

  • Baltimore Ravens (13-3): They won the AFC North and secured the top seed in the conference
  • Kansas City Chiefs (10-6): They won the AFC West
  • Cleveland Browns (11-5): Going into the playoffs as a wild card
  • Miami Dolphins (11-5): Have at least one wild card guaranteed

The following teams still have something at stake in Week 18:

Buffalo Bills (10-6) @ Dolphins

  • The Bills win the AFC East with a win in Miami
  • The Bills also have the chance of a wild card if they draw or the Steelers lose or draw or the Jaguars lose or draw or if the Texans @ Colts game ends in a tie

Houston Texans (9-7) @ Colts

  • The Texans win the AFC South with one win and a Jaguars loss or draw
  • In any case, the Texans will make it into the playoffs with a win or a tie if the Jaguars lose and a loss or a draw for the Steelers

Indianapolis Colts (9-7) vs. Texans

  • The Colts win the AFC South with a win and a Jaguars loss or tie or with a draw and a loss for the Jaguars
  • The Colts will definitely make the playoffs with a win or with a draw and a loss or a draw for the Steelers

Jacksonville Jaguars (9-7) @ Titans

  • The Jaguars win the AFC South with one win or with a tie, even if the Colts and Texans also draw against each other
  • The Jaguars would get a wild card with a tie and a loss or a draw for the Steelers or if the Steelers lose, the Broncos don’t win and the game between the Texans and Colts doesn’t end in a draw

Miami Dolphins (11-5) vs. Bills

  • The Dolphins win the AFC East with a win or a draw

Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7) @ Ravens

  • The Steelers make the playoffs with a win and a Bills loss or with a win and a loss or a draw for the Jaguars or with a win and a draw between Houston and Indianapolis or with a tie, a Jaguars loss and a winner between the Colts and Texans or with a Jaguars loss, a Broncos win and a Houston-Indy winner

NFL: Playoff scenarios for Week 18 in the NFC

In the NFC, five teams are already secure in the playoffs:

  • San Francisco 49ers (12-4): They won the NFC West and secured the top seed in the conference
  • Detroit Lions (11-5): NFC North winners
  • Dallas Cowboys (11-5): At least have the Wild Card secured
  • Los Angeles Rams (9-7): Have a wild card for sure
  • Philadelphia Eagles (11-5): Have at least one wild card guaranteed

The following teams still have something at stake in Week 18:

Atlanta Falcons (7-9) @ Saints

  • They win the NFC South with a win and a Buccaneers loss

Dallas Cowboys (11-5) @ Commanders

  • They win the NFC East with a win or a draw with the Eagles also drawing or in an Eagles loss

Green Bay Packers (8-8) vs. Bears

  • They reach the playoffs with a win or a tie with a Seahawks loss or draw and a Saints loss or draw or with a draw and losses by the Seahawks and Buccaneers or with your own draw, a Seahawks draw and a Bucs loss or draw or if the Vikings win nothing and the Seahawks and Bucs lose or if the Vikings don’t win and the Seahawks and Saints lose

Minnesota Vikings (7-9) @ Lions

  • The Vikings reach the playoffs with one win and losses to the Packers, Seahawks and Bucs or with a win and losses for the Packers, Seahawks and Saints

New Orleans Saints (8-8) vs. Falcons

  • The Saints win the NFC South with a win and a Buccaneers loss or draw or with a draw and a loss for the Bucs
  • The Saints reach the playoffs via wild card with a win and a loss or a draw and a loss for the Seahawks or a draw by the Packers or with a draw and losses by the Seahawks and Packers

Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) @ Giants

  • The Eagles win the NFC East with a win and a Cowboys loss or tie or with a draw and a loss for the Cowboys

Seattle Seahawks (8-8) @ Cardinals

  • The Seahawks reach the playoffs with a win and a Packers loss or tie or with a tie, a loss for the Packers and a loss or a tie for the Buccaneers or with a tie, a Packers loss and a Saints loss or draw

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-8) @ Panthers

  • The Bucs win the NFC South with a win or with a draw if the Saints lose or draw
  • The Bucs enter the playoffs with a tie, a Seahawks loss and a Packers loss or draw
