Former NFL star Justin James Watt (34) and his wife, professional footballer Kealia Watt (31), are investing in the English Premier League promoted Burnley FC.
This was confirmed by the club trained by former HSV professional Vincent Kompany. Burnley FC did not disclose figures.
“When you invest in a club that has been around since 1882, you have to have a lot of respect for its history and tradition,” Watt said in a club statement.
Watt, who is considered one of the greatest NFL players of all time, retired after last season.
The statement said Kealia Watt will be instrumental in the development of Burnley FC women’s football team.
“In the US, I’ve seen the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) grow into something really incredible and we’d love to help the women’s team grow here and be a part of their journey,” said the former US -national player.
