The Houston Texans have adjusted the contract of their best wide receiver in the NFL and also given him a salary increase.

After there were trade rumors surrounding Nico Collins around the draft at the end of April, the Texans have now made it clear that their best starting point is not going anywhere. As ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, both sides have agreed on a revised contract.

As a result, Collins’ salary is not only fully guaranteed for the next two years, he even received raises in both years. In 2026 it will be nine million dollars more, then in 2027 it will be eight million, as Schefter reported, citing Collins’ agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus.

With this adjusted deal, Collins will now make $29.875 million next season, which is the fifth-highest in the NFL.

Collins in the Pro Bowl for the second time

Collins is a model of consistency and broke the 1,000 receiving yard mark for the third time in a row last season. He was also elected to the Pro Bowl for the second time in a row. The bottom line was that he had 71 receptions for 117 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games.

Collins has been CJ Stroud’s top target since he entered the NFL as a first-round pick in 2023. For that reason alone, a trade for Houston was out of the question. “We will not trade Nico Collins,” general manager Nick Caserio said at the end of the second day of the draft. “Whoever reported this or wherever they got this information from – they can stick it somewhere else. We’re not trading Nico.”

Collins was originally a third-round pick by the Texans in the 2021 draft and became a top performer after initial injury problems that cost him ten games in his first two seasons. As a reward, he received a three-year, $72 million contract extension in 2024, which is valid until the end of 2027.
