The Houston Texans won a close battle with the Denver Broncos at the last second in Week 13 of the NFL. The Detroit Lions, in turn, stopped a late comeback against the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins managed another runaway win.

sport.de accompanies selected NFL games on Sunday evening in the live ticker from 7 p.m.!

Seattle Seahawks (6-6) @ Dallas Cowboys (9-3)

Result: 35:41 (7:10, 14:10, 7:7, 7:14) BOXSCORE

Indianapolis Colts (7-5) @ Tennessee Titans (4-8)

Result: 31:28 (7:10, 6:7, 9:2, 3:6, 6:3) OT BOXSCORE

  • With 2:31 minutes left in overtime, Gardner Minshew found Michael Pittman in the end zone for the game’s decisive touchdown. The Titans had previously scored a field goal on their first drive.
  • The Colts, who even achieved fewer total yards than the Titans (355:381), had a sequence of two blocked Titans punts in a row in the third quarter. Grant Stuard took the first one for a touchdown. However, Minshew then threw a pick-2 and kept the door open for the home team.
  • The Titans, where punter Ryan Stonehouse was possibly seriously injured on the second blocked punt, had the victory on their hands in regular time after a touchdown by DeAndre Hopkins, but kicker Nick Folk then missed the extra point – with holder Ryan Tannehill, who stood in for Stonehouse and apparently didn’t execute the hold ideally.

Los Angeles Chargers (5-7) @ New England Patriots (2-10)

Result: 6:0 (0:0, 6:0, 0:0, 0:0) BOXSCORE

  • The New England Patriots unintentionally made history and became the first team since 1938 to lose three games in a row in which they allowed more than ten points in a game.
  • This time, Bailey Zappe started and only managed 141 yards and also had five sacks. In addition, there was a lost fumble by running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who injured his ankle during the action and did not return. For the Chargers, Khalil Mack once again made a big impression and, with two sacks in the game, took the NFL lead with 15 sacks in total.

Detroit Lions (9-3) @ New Orleans Saints (5-7)

Result: 33:28 (21:0, 3:7, 3:14, 6:7) BOXSCORE

  • The Lions got off to a lightning start. After less than seven minutes, they were already ahead 21-0 thanks to touchdowns from David Montgomery, Sam LaPorta and Amon-Ra St. Brown. But the game was anything but decided. The Saints found their way into the game in the second and third quarters and reduced the lead to 24:21 with Jimmy Graham, Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill.
  • In the final quarter, an injury to quarterback Derek Carr slowed the Saints’ momentum. Carr had to leave the game with multiple injuries (shoulder, back, head) after Bruce Irvin hit him hard. Jameis Winston came on for Carr.
  • Both teams were then able to score a touchdown each. In the end, two turnovers by the Saints ensured the decision in a largely even game.

Atlanta Falcons (6-6) @ New York Jets (4-8)

Result: 13:8 (0:2, 10:3, 3:3, 0:0) BOXSCORE

  • A touchdown from tight end MyCole Pruitt in the second quarter would have been enough to put the Falcons back at the top of the NFC South. In fact, the guests in New York were unable to succeed offensively against a Jets team that has now suffered five defeats in a row.

  • Tim Boyle started again as quarterback, but was largely ineffective and threw an interception. In the second half he was replaced by Trevor Siemian, but he ultimately didn’t do much.

  • The game started with a Jets safety against the Falcons. The Jets have scored more safeties in the first quarter this season (3) than touchdowns.

Arizona Cardinals (3-10) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (7-5)

Result: 24:10 (3:3, 7:0, 7:0, 7:7) BOXSCORE

  • The Arizona Cardinals convincingly won a visit to Pittsburgh that was interrupted twice due to weather and won their second game this year with quarterback Kyler Murray on the field. And that despite the fact that for a change the Steelers had more yards than their opponent (317:282).
  • While Murray wasn’t all that convincing overall, it was running back James Conner who shone against his former team with 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
  • Meanwhile, the home team’s injury concerns became greater. Edge rusher TJ Watt needed treatment on his foot near the end. Before halftime, quarterback Kenny Pickett left the game with an ankle injury and did not return. Mitch Trubisky took over for him. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick also broke his left hand, but played through to the end.
  • The Steelers will play on Thursday against the New England Patriots, who will benefit from this game as they currently hold the second pick in the upcoming draft and have overtaken Arizona for the time being.

Miami Dolphins (9-3) @ Washington Commanders (4-9)

Result: 45:15 (17:0, 14:7, 7:8, 7:0) BOXSCORE

  • The Dolphins got into the game quickly with an early big play. Tyreek Hill caught a pass to the left side and flew down the field for a 78-yard touchdown. At the end of the first quarter, even the Dolphins defense put points on the board. Linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel caught an interception from Sam Howell and carried it 32 yards for a touchdown. Shortly after Sam Howell brought the Commanders back closer to the Dolphins with a quarterback sneak touchdown, Hill ignited his turbo again and increased the lead to 24:7 with a 60-yard touchdown. With another touchdown, the Dolphins made a preliminary decision in the first half. The Commanders continued to fight in the second half, but couldn’t get past a second running touchdown from Sam Howell and lost by performance.
  • The two Hill touchdowns now bring the Commanders to 18 touchdowns from outside the red zone – the most in the NFL this season.
  • The result of 45:15 is a Scorigami! It is the 1,082nd different result in NFL history.

Denver Broncos (6-6) @ Houston Texans (8-5)

Result: 17:22 (0:10, 3:3, 7:3, 7:6) BOXSCORE

  • With seconds left, the Broncos had another chance to turn the game around, but Russell Wilson’s pass into the end zone landed at Jimmie Ward for the decision. It was Wilson’s third interception of the game, the previous two coming to cornerback Derek Stingley. This ended Denver’s five-game winning streak, which was currently the longest in the NFL up to that point.
  • The Broncos struggled from the start, especially offensively. So they don’t convert a single one of their six 3rd downs. Even though the Texans were particularly superior in the passing game, most drives ended in punts, so they were unable to break away early. In addition, rookie receiver Tank Dell was seriously injured in the first quarter. He will miss the rest of the season with a broken fibula.
  • After the break, the Broncos started a comeback with a spectacular touchdown from Courtland Sutton. Previously, a defensive touchdown for the Texans was not given due to a controversial decision by the refs. Two interceptions from Stingley and a monster performance from Nico Collins, who caught nine passes for 191 yards and one touchdown, seemed to have already led to a preliminary decision in favor of the Texans. In the final seconds, the Broncos still had their fate in their own hands. On third-and-goal with 16 seconds left to play, Wilson threw his third interception of the day.
  • In the final quarter, Texans quarterback CJ Stroud had to leave the field with a suspected concussion after he was slow to get back to his feet and swayed noticeably after a quarterback sneak. He seemed okay afterwards, stayed on the sidelines and even gave an interview.
