Director Aku Louhimies raises women’s stories in his new war movie.

Director Aku Louhimies’ novelty movie Lapland War will premiere in the fall of 2026. The manuscript is based on author Antti Tuurin Iron-sensitiveto the work.

– The war in Lapland is an unknown war for many. In the autumn of 1944, Finland was between two superpower, and the nation only had dangerous alternatives. Not everyone got home. This time too, we make a realistic and high quality war movie with a happy ending. The main message of the film is forgiveness, says Aku Louhimies in the release.

Tuuri has been responsible for the script with Louhimies.

– The film’s script expands the perspective of the book. We also wanted to highlight women’s stories – the war touched everyone, men, women and children, says the author.

Film producer Andrei Alén describes in the release that the big film is a “mental sequel” for the 2017 The unknown soldier to the movie Louhimies directed.

– We bring a new story to the cinemas that follow the phenomenon of the unknown in style and implementation. We are grateful to all the supporters – we make a thought -provoking, ambitious art for a great general overview, says Alén.

The unknown soldier received ten nominations at the Jussi Gala in 2018. In the end, the film was awarded four Jussi awards.
