Next setback for Timo Werner

Bundesliga soccer team RB Leipzig has to do without attacker Timo Werner for the time being.

The national player, who was recently not considered for the DFB selection, is out due to adductor problems, as coach Marco Rose reported before the Bundesliga game at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky).

The coach left it open on Friday whether Werner was an option for the Champions League game against Manchester City on Tuesday.

Leipzig coach Rose on Werner’s loss: “Just bad luck”

This is not Werner’s first injury this season. The 27-year-old had already missed two games in September due to back problems. “It’s just bad luck and we hope it gets better every day,” Rose said.

After the international break, striker Benjamin Sesko (back) and midfielder Kevin Kampl (ankle) are also struggling with minor problems. “But we are positive that this can also work tomorrow,” said Rose.

A good month after the bitter exit in the DFB Cup, the Leipzig team is eager for revenge against VfL. “That hurt. We weren’t intense enough against the ball. We weren’t powerful enough with the ball forward,” Rose said looking back.
