Martin Satriano scores 1-0 against Real Madrid

As of: March 2, 2026 • 11:27 p.m

With national player Antonio Rüdiger and ex-Munich player David Alaba in the starting line-up, Real Madrid suffered another setback: they suffered their second league defeat in a row against Getafe. The Uruguayan Martin Satriano scored his dream goal on Monday evening to give the outsider a 1-0 (1-0) away win.

Against their city rivals from Getafe, the Whites never really found their way into the game and did not take advantage of the few opportunities that presented themselves. In the second half, Real chased after the deficit and applied pressure, but the visitors’ bulwark held firm. In keeping with the extremely heated duel, Real’s Franco Mastantuono (straight red, 90+5) and Getafe’s Adrian Liso (yellow-red, 90+7) saw two late dismissals.

At the end of the 26th matchday, Real’s gap to leaders FC Barcelona increased to four points. Coach Hansi Flick’s team had previously beaten Villarreal 4-1.

Vinicius Junior and Arda Güler miss great opportunities

The guests from Getafe, a suburb of Madrid, started the game bravely. Diego Rico was allowed to volley dangerously with his left after a cross, but Trent Alexander-Arnold stood in the way and cleared the ball. However, this was obviously a wake-up call for Real: Less than two minutes after Getafe’s chance, Vinicius Junior was free, but goalkeeper David Soria prevented the goal from being conceded in a one-on-one situation.

Only now did the game develop as it had previously been expected: Royals, who were confident on the ball, controlled the game against the guests who defended compactly. Arda Güler provided a rare highlight when he penetrated the penalty area using roulette à la Zidane and fired powerfully. Soria was there again (24th). Otherwise, Getafe was stable – before the outsiders suddenly made an exclamation mark themselves.

Satriano volley to Getafe’s leadership

With their first shot on goal, the “Azulones” struck coldly: Rüdiger only inadequately cleared a cross and the ball bounced to Satriano just outside the penalty area. The Uruguayan took the ball spectacularly straight out of the air and gave Thibault Courtois no chance in goal with his flare into the top right corner. Real reacted angrily and it was clear to the players how annoying this goal was – but they were unable to quickly equalize before the break.

But because there wasn’t much of a chance for the Royals in the second half, coach Alvaro Arbeloa intervened: Alaba had to go, among others, and three fresh players came in in Rodrygo, Dean Huijsen and Dani Carvajal (55th). But that didn’t change the statics of the game: the favorites continued to find it extremely difficult to create big chances in the absence of superstar Kylian Mbappé, who had a knee injury.

Rüdiger inconspicuously – until Almost equalizer

Rüdiger, who will try to establish himself again in the last third of the season and thus also be recommended for Germany’s World Cup starting eleven, had his most striking scene on the offensive. After a sharp corner from Joker Mastantuono, the central defender rose into the air and headed just past the far post from close range (75′).

Antonio Rüdiger has the chance to equalize against Getafe CF

Four minutes later, Mastantuono, who was conspicuous after his substitution, created the next big chance when he fed Rodrygo with a cross. As in the first half, the strong Soria was on point in the visitors’ goal and parried the Brazilian’s header. But Real no longer posed any further danger.

Two dismissals in the final phase

In the hectic injury time, Yougnster Mastantuono instead took himself out of the game when he expressed his opinion to the referee with his hand in front of his mouth, who then pulled out a red card. Getafe also finished the game with only ten men: Liso, who was also substituted, was sent off with a yellow-red card because he knocked a ball away after an offside decision.

The bottom line was that, like the 1-2 loss at Osasuna the previous week, the favorite’s overall performance was disappointing. After all, Real will have the opportunity to show a quick reaction on Friday at Celta Vigo (9 p.m.).
