Next eviction? Staff tremors will probably continue

After the separation of CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, the big cleanup in the management floor of FC Bayern is apparently continuing.

As the “kicker” reports, Kahn’s confidant Moritz Mattes should also take his hat off to the German record champions.

The adviser installed by the former goalkeeper titan as “Chief of Staff” is said to have not been well liked internally for a long time. Mattes “repeatedly shook heads” and caused a bad mood among the employees, writes the trade magazine.

The “tz” had recently referred to Mattes as Kahn’s “shadow man”. “Extremely bold and therefore controversial” was his behavior towards the rest of the FC Bayern staff, according to the report by the Munich newspaper.

Kahn and Mattes had previously founded the start-up Goalplay together, which had developed an app for goalkeeper training. When Kahn took over the managerial post at FC Bayern from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 2021, he brought his confidante with him to Säbener Straße.

FC Bayern: Does Hasan Salihamidzic’s squad planner also have to go?

In addition to Mattes, Marco Neppe could also get caught in the course of the major cleaning in Munich. “Sport1” had recently reported on the tendency “towards separation” in the technical director, who was promoted from scout to squad planner under Salihamidzic.

The “kicker” is now also reporting that Neppe’s future at Bayern is open. His work was questioned internally a few weeks ago, regardless of the separation of Kahn and Salihamidzic.

Neppe’s name was no longer mentioned in connection with his actual core business, transfer planning. President Herbert Hainer, Honorary President Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who was newly appointed to the Supervisory Board, will be responsible for this together with coach Thomas Tuchel.
