The Los Angeles Lakers’ personnel concerns have become even worse after the injury to basketball superstar Luka Doncic.
The Californians, who were still under the shock of Doncic’s diagnosis on Friday, now also confirmed the loss of star guard Austin Reaves. The 27-year-old will not be available for the rest of the main round due to a “second degree left oblique muscle injury”. A timetable for Reaves’ possible return was not given.
The news is another major blow to the Lakers’ hopes of seriously competing for the NBA title in the playoffs. Reaves and Doncic were key figures in the Lakers’ run in March, when the team lost just two games and climbed to third place in the Western Conference.
The Slovenian Doncic has suffered a strained left hamstring and, like Reaves, will miss the remaining five games of the regular season. The Lakers (50:27) play at the Dallas Mavericks on Easter Monday night.
