★★★ The editor has promised to leave aside the issue of “Netflix standardization”, that all series and movies are made where they are made, have the same style even if they are spoken in English, French, Spanish or, as in “Not a word”, Polish. What is meant by that is that everything is narrated more or less the same: in the long run it is not a defect because what matters is that we create what happens on the screen. But in the case of “Not a word” (a missing young man, another dead, worried parents and a network of drug traffickers and abusers ominous about the characters) that “standardization” leads to the defect. Although each episode does not lack a situation of genuine tension, the resolution of certain things seems to be the result of everything fitting into the mold, it has six one-hour episodes. And that dissolves the effectiveness of the plot.
