★★★★You have to understand that Jackass is, in its grotesque and outrageous way, almost surreal, more a celebration of personal freedom than idiocy, regardless of its title. Since this band started doing their tests and their challenges between the scatological and the suicidal for fun and entertainment. Here there is no more history than the rhythmic conjunction (the montage is everything, we are not facing a documentary even if it takes tools of that format) of a series of stupid tests, hidden cameras, practical jokes. But the point is that, behind all this explosive spectacle of (supposed) stupidity, camaraderie, friendship, the idea of laughing at oneself arises. It’s hard to “compare” this version to the previous three movies or the series, because it’s the same. But that does not mean that it is not surprising: what makes us laugh is the human reaction, all too human, of these guys on the verge of sanity.
