★★★1/2 This is the fictionalized story of the rescue of those thirteen boys who were trapped in a cave in Thailand, about to drown. The director is Ron Howard, who often makes horrible movies, but when he feels like narrating (Apollo 13, Cinderella Man, Solo), he makes good classic Hollywood movies. And besides – the memory of Apollo 13 is again pertinent – he knows how to mount the real in the imaginary. Here the cast is perfect and the moments of suspense perfectly distributed so that we suffer when we should and rejoice when the end comes, beyond the fact that we know exactly how the story will end. He does not ignore the social landscape in which the anecdote takes place, but finally concentrates on what is most important: the pure adventure of saving life. Viggo is always good and understands his character perfectly.
