Newgarden wins batting final in Texas

Two-time Indy Car champion Josef Newgarden literally won the second race of the US series in the final meters.

The 31-year-old from Nashville won the 375-mile race on the oval course in Fort Worth/Texas with a lead of 0.06 seconds over New Zealander Scott McLaughlin, who had won the opening race.

McLaughlin was in front for more than three quarters of the race distance, only in the last corner was he overtaken by Newgarden. For the traditional Penske team, it was the 600th success across all series.

Former Formula 1 driver Marcus Ericsson from Sweden completed the podium in third place.
