Newcomers Maulun and Le Roux are still missing from FC Volendam, but Cox is available

It is now starting to take a long time until all transfer-free players that FC Volendam brought in are available. Next weekend against RKC Waalwijk, trainer Matthias Kohler will have George Cox at his disposal, but Robin Maulun and Luke Le Roux are again missing from the Volendam team’s match selection. Brian Plat and Lequincio Zeefuik are also not present in Waalwijk.

FC Volendam presented the transfer-free Robert Maulun and Luke Le Roux at the end of August. They have trained for weeks to get fit, but they are still not fit to compete. It has now been two months and they have still not played a minute in the first team of FC Volendam. “Ideally, they want to play and be part of the group. That’s part of it,” says Kohler.

Acquisition Cox

George Cox is available at FC Volendam. The 25-year-old left back brings the necessary experience and the team can use that, according to Kohler. “I think he personally made good use of this international break,” Kohler said of his fitness and integration into the team. “His personality, experience and maturity are very good for us.”

The absence of Maulun and Le Roux is offset by the possible return of Xavier Mbuyamba. He is back on the training field. The central defender last played on August 19 against Go Ahead Eagles (4-1 loss) and missed the following matches with an injury. The club did not want to make any announcements about this. FC Volendam dismissed the suggestion that he would force a possible transfer wide.

Important period

Kohler would have liked to have those absent this weekend. FC Volendam will visit competitor RKC Waalwijk on Saturday evening. The people from Brabant are two places higher and have two more points. If they win, Volendam will leapfrog RKC. “It could be a decisive match. You often only know that afterwards,” says Kohler, who sees this as an important period. After the match with RKC, meetings with Excelsior and Ajax await.
