Newcastle United have extended left-back Paul Dummett’s expiring contract for another year. The 30-year-old homegrown player made the leap to the pros in 2013 after previous loan spells and has played 204 competitive games for the “Magpies” since then. In the current season, the left foot has only made three appearances due to injury.
“It’s an extremely exciting time for the club and the city so I’m delighted to spend another year here and staying at my youth club. I’m very proud that next season will be my tenth first-team appearance and I’m really looking forward to it,” said the five-time Wales international.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe added: “Paul is a consummate professional who has brought so much to this club and I am delighted that he will stay with us. He’s a player and a person that I like a lot. He leads by example both in the dressing room and on the pitch and I’m happy to keep someone with his positive influence and defensive skills.”
