Matt Targett will remain part of the “Magpies” after his six-month loan to Newcastle United in the 2022/23 season and beyond. The 26-year-old left-back comes permanently from his parent club Aston Villa and, according to official club figures, costs 15 million pounds – the equivalent of around 17.5 million euros. The nouveau riche Newcastle exercised an agreed option to buy, endowing Targett with a contract until June 2026.
“It was an easy decision for me to make the loan permanent after receiving such a warm welcome from my team-mates, staff, fans and owners,” said the left-footed player, who made 16 appearances for the back series in 2021/22 his new employer was used.
