New Zealand Prime Minister Ardern tests positive for corona

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has tested positive for the corona virus, she writes in a message on Instagram on Saturday (local time). The prime minister also added a photo of her corona self-test.

According to Ardern, she has been in home isolation since Sunday after her partner tested positive. The virus was also diagnosed in her 3-year-old daughter on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, although I tried my best, like the rest of my family, I tested positive,” she says. The prime minister does not say in her message whether she has any symptoms.

Ardern will not be present in parliament on Monday at the presentation of the New Zealand government’s emission reduction plan due to her corona infection. She is also missing on Thursday at the presentation of the budget.
