The 54-year-old fireman and his wife was on a tourist boat trip, organized by his American colleagues. During the cruise, however, things went wrong: the boat collided with a fishing boat. The man from Diksmuide did not survive the accident.
An investigation showed that not all safety regulations were complied with, so that the city of New York is now being responsible for the incident. The compensation must financially support the victim’s family after the tragic loss.
