New York Met Shows ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’

Beginning in May 2023, the Costume Institute exhibition at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art will be dedicated to design icon Karl Lagerfeld.

Under the title “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, the exhibition presents the work of the exceptional designer and his career spanning six decades. She wants to explore his creative process, from sketching and drawing to garments that have changed the course of culture, the press statement said.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from May 5th to July 16th, 2023. It follows the Costume Institute’s benefit event – the so-called “Met Gala” – which is scheduled to take place on May 1, 2023.

Coinciding with the announcement, the House of Karl Lagerfeld is presenting 77 exclusive editions of the designer’s most iconic garment: the white shirt. Each one-of-a-kind piece has been individually printed with Karl’s original sketches and hand-signed with the limited edition number. The shirts are accompanied by a collector’s box containing a souvenir art print from Karl’s studio in Paris. In addition, all proceeds from the sale of each shirt will be donated to the Met.

The 77 limited copies are now available exclusively in the Karl Lagerfeld stores in Paris and Milan (there in the pop-up shop on Via Manzoni) and on karl.com.
