A windfall for the stars in Alpine skiing: The FIS is significantly increasing the World Cup prize money this season. These sums are awarded to the winners.
From November 27th to 30th, the ski elite will compete against each other in the super-G, giant slalom and slalom at the fourth World Cup weekend this season in Copper Mountain. The men’s and women’s DSV teams around Linus Straßer, Lena Dürr and Emma Aicher will also be competing there again and competing with stars like Marco Odermatt and Mikaela Shiffrin.
In addition to the sporting incentive, the financial incentive will also play a role. Because: The prize money for the 2025/2026 season has been significantly increased by the International Ski Federation FIS. In June it was announced that premiums would rise by up to 20 percent. The association covers ten percent, and a further ten percent can be contributed on a voluntary basis by the respective local organizer.
In the future, victories will be rewarded with 54,709 euros, 7,709 euros more than last season. Second place is also paid better: with 25,608 euros instead of the previous 22,000. Third place will receive 13,968 euros, previously it was 12,000. The only exceptions are the men’s Hahnenkamm race in Kitzbühel and the women’s night slalom in Flachau, where the first place winners receive a bonus of 101,000 and 70,000 euros respectively.
Last season, Swiss ski racer Marco Odermatt was by far the highest earner. The prize money he won totaled around 776,804 euros. Among women, the Italian Federica Brignone secured the highest total amount with around 726,982 euros. Both also won the overall World Cup. Emma Aicher took the lead among the DSV stars. She had around 171,463 euros more in her account after completing the World Cup.
