The 2022 World Cup starts next Sunday in Qatar. The time of big tournaments is traditionally also the time of betting and manager games. Transfermarkt’s cooperation partner Sorare created such a manager game in the form of the “Global Cup 22”. The new mode can be played for free and offers the chance to win prizes such as VIP tickets or signed jerseys (advertisement). What is Sorare anyway?
Sorare is the leading NFT-based fantasy sports game where managers can collect, trade and line up digital player cards from more than 25 of the best leagues in the world. These player cards are NFTs that you own not just for one season, but forever if you choose.
With over two million users worldwide, Sorare has grown rapidly since it was founded in 2018 and cooperates with the world’s largest clubs and leagues, including the Bundesliga.
Global Cup 22: How does Sorare’s World Cup mode work?
In keeping with the World Cup, Sorare has now created a new opportunity to become active as a fantasy manager at the world’s most important football tournament. The “Global Cup 22” is a free-to-play mode in which users can put together a team from all available World Cup players and compete with them against friends.
A total of 100 points are available to each participant, which can be used for two goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers. The players are sorted according to the expected performance and accordingly have different prices. For Neymar and Lionel Messi – the most expensive professionals – 23 points have to be paid, from the DFB team Joshua Kimmich is the most expensive with 19 points.
Once the squad of eight players is in place, five of them can be fielded per match day. As in the usual Sorare mode, a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder, an attacker and one other outfield player are required. Only these five professionals then collect points for the managers based on their performances for their national teams, who can compete against each other both in a global comparison and in private leagues.
A total of seven matchdays will be played at Sorare:

Matchday #2: November 25th to November 28th
Matchday #3: November 29th to December 2nd
Matchday #4: December 3rd to December 6th
Matchday #5: December 9th to December 12th
Matchday #6: December 13th to December 15th
Matchday #7: December 16th to December 19th
What prizes can be won at Global Cup 22?
There are 100,000 digital player cards to be won weekly in WM mode, 5,000 digital player cards in the “Limited” collector level (to explain the collector levels) and ETH prizes for the managers with the best results.
In addition, the best participants of the entire World Cup will receive signed jerseys, VIP tickets for selected games and a meet-and-greet with Zinedine Zidane.
