If a “Simpsons” film comes to the cinemas again in 2027, then there will be exactly two decades between the first and the second in between.
Two decades in which the series, in the opinion of many times, has become worse and only a little more pointed in recent years. This is probably also due to new, younger authors. Matt Groening already said in the 1990s that the series would end when Homer and Co. became a Hollywood product. He was wrong, his epochale cartoon series still exists.
If not everything is deceptive, you have been working on a clever story for several years. The first film borrowed a scenario of Stephen King. He offered a few clairvoyant gags, the panel excitement with Bart’s small beard – and everything also looked pretty good. The wages were an XXL insecrary result of $ 536 million. However, nothing has remained of the film, but it certainly has not become a classic of the genre.
The yellow want to tell more again
There is not yet much known about the new fabric. The picture with the donut and the slogan “Homer’s coming back for seconds” certainly doesn’t make more hungry for more. The nerds also discuss the painted Marvel film on the Internet, which is now being replaced by the “Simpsons”. Nevertheless, the second cinema adventure for the yellow could prove to be a skillful move.
The producers of the series have been focusing on a little more storytelling and more emotional stories. Keyword: “Bartless”. After so much time and all the slapstick crap, which Homer had to degenerate into a joke figure, this is a good approach.
After the purchase of Disney, the question remained what the Mickey Mouse Group was going on with the “Simpsons”. In addition to a few marketing short films without deeper value, there was recently the signal that some episodes only make it to the Disney+ streaming service. It is the gentle transition to the future without television.
Perhaps at Disney you connect the second “Simpsons” film with the start of a parallel universe, in which individual figures get their own series (how about a version, for example, in which Bart and Lisa have long since grown up and died tragically-as a cliffhanger of the latest season showed?). Or you are uninhibited for cinema on nostalgia and a completely different audience than for the series.
Matt Groening hint that a movie will mean the end of the series will not apply this time either. The “Simpsons” were extended until season 40 (!) In 2029.
