The police unions, Director General of Police and Security Regions Monique Vogelzang of Justice and Security and Chief of Police Van Essen signed the new police collective labor agreement today. The salary of police officers will increase by an average of 9.5% during the term of the collective labor agreement from July 1, 2024 to November 30, 2025.
On November 17, 2024, the parties reached a negotiating agreement. The police unions presented this result to their supporters and the members approved by a large majority. With a heavy workload, a tight labor market and high inflation, it is important to provide clarity and certainty to police officers in a timely manner. That is why the unions, the police and the Ministry of Justice and Security sat down at an early stage to discuss a new collective labor agreement that will take effect from July 1, 2024.
Income
The salaries of police personnel will be increased by an average of 9.5% during the term of the collective labor agreement, from July 1, 2024 to November 30, 2025. This increase is structured as follows:
- As of July 1, 2024, an amount of €100 will be added to the scale amounts. This amounts to an average salary increase of 2.5%.
- As of July 1, 2024, the salary will be increased by 5%.
- As of January 1, 2025, the salary will be increased by 2%.
These salary increases are in addition to the 2% salary increase as of January 1, 2024 that the parties agreed in the 2022-2024 employment conditions agreement. This gives a total income improvement, in the period from January 1, 2024 to November 30, 2025, of an average of 11.5%.
One-off payment
Due to the high inflation in the recent period, the parties have also agreed to improve the monthly income of police employees during the term of the current collective labor agreement. In anticipation of the new collective labor agreement, police employees will receive an additional amount of €200 per month in the first 6 months of 2024 (January to June 2024).
In addition, agreements have been made about capacity, labor market measures, inclusive and sustainable employment conditions, the introduction of an Individual Choice Budget and an increase in the allowance for commuting with your own transport and the introduction of an equal rate for commuting and business travel with your own transport.
