New intensive care in Scheper hospital: ‘A big step forward’

Also new are the ‘service rooms’ in the heart of the department. Mollema summarizes: “Two team stations, a storage room, space to prepare medication and a washroom to remove waste.”

The corridors have been further ‘decorated’ with photos of the Drenthe landscape. It should create a homely feeling, even if it is an environment you don’t like to be in. Furthermore, the IC is pandemic-proof; adjusted as best as possible to a rapidly spreading virus.

“There are extra doors at the back of the hallway. Part of the department can be closed off from the rest. This way you can make part of the department dirty and keep the rest clean. That is also one of the lessons from Covid. period. By working with clean and dirty, knowing that you are entering a dirty area, you also understand: now I have to take extra protective measures.”

Mollema is ‘very looking forward’ to the new working environment, which will become reality next week. “This is a big step forward. It looks nice and sleek. All the facilities and conveniences we need have been included in the construction. Happy and very proud,” is his conclusion.
