Jason Reitman, who directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan. The latter will take a seat in the director’s chair for the new ghost-hunting flick. Actors Logan Kim and Celeste O’Conner, who starred in the previous film, will also reprise their roles. Are new to the cast Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster and Emily Alyn Lind. Winston Zeddemore actor Ernie Hudson will also be part of the new film. He already starred in “Afterlife” – just like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. However, it is not yet known whether the latter will play their roles Peter Venkman and Raymond Stantz again.

The new Ghostbusters movie will be the first since the death of Ivan Reitman, the director of the original 1984 Ghostbusters. He was the father of Jason Reitman. At a screening of “Afterlife” at CinemaCon 2021, Ivan Reitman leaned over to his son Jason to whisper something in his ear, as Jason Reitman recalls. He assumed his father would now tell him how proud he was of him. Instead, Ivan Reitman told him, “You really need to get rid of that shot of the car going over the bridge.”
