New ferry connection with Great Britain

The last sailing between the two port cities has been ten years since the bankruptcy of Trans Europa Ferries. The Dutch shipping company Fair Ferry is breathing new life into the route with the two-master “MORGENSTER”. Twenty-four passengers embarked for this first crossing. The Dutch shipping company that organizes the crossing speaks of a combination of romance and adventure, where passengers can expect a lot.

Long crossing

The crossing varies between ten and thirty hours. So it’s not for hurried travellers. It is an emission-free crossing. The “MORGENSTER” only uses the engine to sail out and into the harbor. For the rest, you have to see which way the wind blows. It is therefore a real sailing experience.

The sailing ferry service is a test for the time being. If this is a success, there will be regular sailing between Ostend and Ramsgate in the summer. The trip there and back costs between 800 and 1200 euros.
