The exhibition about the destroyed first Ostend and the later rebuilt second Ostend also looks into the future. “The importance of coastal defense is brought into sharp focus here. We constantly hear that sea levels are rising, and that was already the case then. But Testerep has since disappeared. So it also makes us think very hard about the climate,” concludes Ostend Alderman for Culture Vanessa Vens.
