TMZ has obtained the audio recording of the emergency callwhom Rivers’ girlfriend Keely dropped off at his home in Florida. Crying, she tells the emergency dispatcher that she found Rivers in the bathroom “in a pool of blood, face down.” At the request of the control center, Keely begins chest compressions until emergency services arrive.
Shortly afterwards, he finds Rivers in the bathroom. He has a laceration on his head and apparently fell from the toilet. When the rescue workers arrived, the musician was already dead.
Evidence of pulmonary embolism
According to police, the face and neck were dark blue, while the rest of the body was red – an indication of a possible pulmonary embolism. However, the final cause of death is still pending after the autopsy.
Rivers died on October 18th at the age of 48, the band announced in a statement on Instagram. There the bandmates wrote: “Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat.” Rivers was the soul behind every song, it said. The bassist’s death came as a surprise to the band as well as to the grieving fans.
Severe liver disease ten years ago
According to media reports, Rivers temporarily left Limp Bizkit in 2015 due to a serious liver disease, which he himself attributed to alcohol abuse. After a liver transplant, he returned to the band in 2018.
According to Bild, Rivers’ girlfriend Keely told the police officers on site that he had had to take numerous medications since the transplant, had also consumed cannabis and occasionally drank alcohol.
