There are also new faces on the field. Zulte Waregem signed striker Hemsley Akpa-Chukwu. The striker scored nine goals and two assists at RFC Seraing in the Challenger Pro League last season.
The attacker already promises a spectacle. “I am a fast player and I like to attack. Scoring goals gives me a good feeling. The supporters like a lot of attacking violence.”
Despite the new ambitions, the club remains cautious in its expectations for the coming season.
Grow step by step
“We always aim a little higher, but you should not expect big leaps,” says Michiel Beeuwsaert, CEO Zulte Waregem. “We want to grow step by step and ultimately see that translated into the rankings.”
