The tunnel connects the northern and southern cycling routes along the railway line and thus ensures a direct connection between three large sports locations. With the Master Plan, the municipality wants to make the sports site greener and more accessible for cyclists and pedestrians.
Earlier in the same zone the Boulodrome, a covered petanquel location. The construction of the tunnel fits in with Knokke-Heist’s wider vision to strengthen the Infrastructure for Sport and Recreation and to improve its accessibility.
